There are plenty of exciting upgrades in the 2020 RAM 1500. A more powerful EcoDiesel engine is one of the coolest new features of this full-size pickup truck. Here's what you can expect.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
First, you'll need to choose your ideal configuration. You can choose a quad cab for a compact size or a crew cab for more leg room in the back seat. Two different bed lengths are also available: a 6-foot, 4-inch bed or a 5-foot, 7-inch bed.
The base trim option is the Tradesman which comes with power heated side mirrors, variable intermittent wipers, automatic headlights, daytime running lights, and 18-inch steel wheels. Step up to the Tradesman HFE trim for 20-inch aluminum wheels or the Big Horn for fog lights and 18-inch silver aluminum wheels.
The Laramie trim offers perks like side mirrors with integrated turn signals and courtesy lamps, while the Rebel features unique styling and chrome exterior accents. Choose the Longhorn model for rain-sensing wipers, tow hooks, and several interior upgrades. Finally, the Limited trim comes with all the top features inside and out, as well as chrome accents and power running boards.
Engine (Power)
Choose your desired power with three different engine options. The 3.6-liter V-6 paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission puts out 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. A 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine is even more powerful with the 2020 model offering up to 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. A 5.7-liter V-8 is also available for 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The eTorque hybrid system can be added to an engine to provide added torque and towing capacity thanks to cylinder deactivation and variable valve timing technologies. When this eTorque system is paired with the EcoDiesel engine, drivers can tow up to 12,560 pounds. Pair the V-8 engine and eTorque technology for 12,750 pounds of towing capability.
Resigned aerodynamics help the RAM 1500 achieve optimum efficiency while also maintaining impressive power. An active air dam automatically extends downward while towing at speeds over 30 miles per hour to reduce drag. Opt for the available air suspension system which is a four-corner suspension that automatically lowers the entire truck at higher speeds for a more aerodynamic drive.
Interior
The cabin of the 2020 RAM 1500 is loaded with luxury features that will make you want to take it for long rides. RAM's Uconnect infotainment system provides total connectivity on an 8.4-inch touchscreen or a huge 12-inch touchscreen with split-view capability. View your favorite apps and enjoy music streaming through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Make passengers totally comfortable with a reclining rear seat, ample legroom, and an available panoramic sunroof.
Safety Features
Every RAM 1500 is built on a 98-percent high-strength steel frame and features several available active safety systems to help you avoid collisions. Enjoy safer towing with a trailer detection system that keeps an eye out for vehicles in the trailer and truck's blind spots. Other active safety systems include adaptive cruise control and lane departure warnings.
