2021 Jeep Cherokee
Although the small SUV segment is crowded, Jeep Cherokee stands out as an off-road-ready, capable, and strong contender. These traits have made the model a long-standing favorite among outdoorsy buyers. Its 2021 adds more features to make many a Cherokee believer.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2021 Jeep Cherokee features five trim levels — Latitude, Latitude Plus, Latitude Lux (new for the model year), Trailhawk, and Limited. Jeep also offers two sub-trim levels, Altitude and High Altitude, that add styling flourishes to the five main trim options. Exterior features on the base Latitude trim include automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated and power side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators, and black and chrome accents. The Latitude Plus and Latitude Lux offer LED fog lights, keyless entry and ignition with remote engine start, and a windshield wiper de-icer.
If you plan to take your vehicle off the beaten path, the Trailhawk is a great option. It boasts excellent off-road features like Jeep Active Drive Lock with a locking rear axle and Rock Mode settings, a unique front grille, and 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. The top Limited trim has its own set of 18-inch wheels and a power-operated liftgate.
Engine (Power)
With the lower trim levels, the standard engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that generates 171 pound-feet of torque and 180 horsepower. This engine works with a nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The Latitude Lux and Trailhawk trims come standard with a 3.2-liter V-6 rated 239 pound-feet of torque and 271 horsepower. You can also upgrade any of the upper three trims to include a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 295 pound-feet of torque and 270 horsepower.
Performance
Front-wheel drive is standard on all models but the Trailhawk, which comes standard with four-wheel drive. Jeep's four-wheel-drive system is also available on the other trims, and pairs with the Selec-Terrain Traction Management System that guarantees exceptional traction regardless of road conditions. If you plan to tow with your Cherokee, be sure to add the Trailer Tow package, which bundles a class-III receiver hitch, a seven-pin wiring harness, and upgraded engine cooling functionality.
Interior
From the all-new Latitude Lux to the top-rated Limited, every 2021 Jeep Cherokee sports quality interior niceties. First off, the Latitude includes manually adjustable front seats, a six-speaker audio system, a 7-inch touch screen Uconnect infotainment system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, and Bluetooth connectivity. With the Latitude Plus and Trailhawk, you get heated front seats, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear-seat USB ports, and a power driver's seat. The mid-level Latitude Lux offers power-adjustable front seats and leather upholstery. As the top-rated trim, the Limited adds dual-zone automatic climate control, a premium nine-speaker sound system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, driver's seat memory settings, and an upgraded driver information display.
Safety Features
The 2021 Jeep Cherokee delivers big on safety. That's why each variant features blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision mitigation, a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, and lane-keep assist. Rear automatic braking and adaptive cruise control come standard on the advanced trims and optional for the lower models.
