2022 Jeep Cherokee
The Jeep Cherokee is an SUV that offers the best of both worlds. It travels through town and on the highway in style, providing a smooth and comfortable ride, but you can take it to the trails when you want an adventure. For the 2022 model year, the Cherokee has a slimmed-down lineup with five main trim levels, which include a new X model. All 2022 trims now come with an 8.4-inch touch screen and satellite radio, and the Latitude Lux now has a 7-inch gauge-cluster display.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level 2022 Cherokee is the Altitude. It comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, LED daytime running lights, and heated side exterior mirrors. Next in the lineup is the Latitude Lux, which adds a power liftgate. The new Cherokee X comes next. It removes the fog lights, but adds some off-road extras such as all-terrain tires, a rear tow hook, wheel arch extensions, and an off-road-tuned suspension. Choose the Trailhawk for even more off-road goodies, such as an upgraded suspension, underbody skid plates, all-terrain tires, and black hood decals. The top-level Limited has 18-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof.
Engine (Power)
The Cherokee is available with one of three engine options. The base is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower. To get more out of the Cherokee, upgrade to a 3.2-liter V-6 that puts out 271 horsepower and an impressive 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that generates 270 horsepower. All engines work with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and if you have the Altitude or Latitude Lux, it comes with front-wheel drive with all-wheel drive as an option. The rest of the lineup comes standard with all-wheel drive.
Performance
The V-6 or turbo four engines accelerate quickly and provide plenty of passing power. This SUV boasts a smooth ride on the road, but it shines when you take it off-road. The Active Drive II all-wheel-drive system for the Trailhawk has a two-speed transfer case, making it capable of tackling rough terrain with ease.
Interior
Inside, the Cherokee offers two rows of seats and room for up to five. It comes standard with heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a heated steering wheel, and keyless ignition. The Latitude Lux adds leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a power-adjustable passenger seat, and the Limited adds more convenience features, such as driver's seat memory settings and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. An 8.4-inch touch screen now comes standard, and you'll also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a six-speaker stereo. A household-style outlet comes in the Latitude Lux, which also gains an upgraded driver information display. The Limited upgrades to a nine-speaker stereo, and an integrated navigation system is optional as part of the Elite Package for this trim.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Jeep Cherokee comes with advanced driver aids. These include a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with automatic braking, and lane-keep assist. The Limited adds to this package with adaptive cruise control and an automated parking system.
