Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Wrangler is known for its iconic Jeep styling and legendary off-road performance. In addition, this SUV offers a choice of five different engines, a removable top and doors, and plenty of modern conveniences. New for the 2022 model year is the Willys Extreme Recon special-edition model. Apart from this addition, the Wrangler is likely to carry over without any significant changes.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
With its seven-slot grille, round headlights, and box shape, the Wrangler features the iconic Jeep look. Like its predecessor, the new Wrangler will provide an unbeatable outdoor experience with a fold-down windshield and removable top and doors. You will also still be able to choose between a two-door and a four-door Unlimited model. Although Jeep has not released any details regarding the 2022 Wrangler yet, it's expected that the lineup will remain largely unchanged for the new model year. This means you can expect the following main trims: the Sport, Sport S, RHD, Sahara, Rubicon, and Rubicon 392. A hybrid 4xe model will also be offered on selected trims. In addition, you can expect multiple special-edition models, including the Willys, Willys Sport, High Altitude, and the new Willys Extreme Recon.
Engine (Power)
The new Wrangler will retain the engine lineup of its predecessor, which means you'll have a choice of five powertrains. The base 3.6-liter engine produces 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, while an available 2.0-liter engine provides an output of 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. A powerful output of 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque is provided with the impressive Rubicon 392 trim. Those who prefer diesel power can opt for the available 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 engine, which produces 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. A hybrid powertrain is also provided, which consists of a 2.0-liter engine that pairs with two electric motors. This powertrain generates a combined output of 374 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. All powertrains come standard with a four-wheel-drive system.
Performance
With the Rubicon and Rubicon 392 trims, the Wrangler provides legendary off-road capability. The Rubicon trim, for instance, is equipped with advanced off-road features such as 33-inch all-terrain tires, a Tru-Lok electronic rear differential, and an electronically disconnecting front sway bar. You can also expect an adventurous ride with the new Willys Xtreme Recon model. This model offers 35-inch all-terrain tires, a 1.5-inch suspension lift, and upgraded brakes.
Interior
The Wrangler's cabin is as off-road-ready as its exterior. After a day on rocky and dusty roads, functional features such as a weather-resistant removable carpet and one-way floor drain valves will allow you to easily hose the interior down. In addition, the cabin is also comfortable. Passengers receive spacious and supportive seating in both rows, especially with four-door models. While the entry-level trim is likely to offer the basics, such as a 5-inch display and cloth upholstery, you can expect convenient upgrades with the higher trims. These include heated front seats, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and a nine-speaker premium Alpine sound system.
Safety Features
Like its predecessor, the new Wrangler will likely come with a range of advanced available driver-assist systems, such as forward-collision warning, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.
