Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 RAM 2500 is a powerful full-size pickup truck offered in five trim levels. These are Work Truck (WT), Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country. Following a redesign in 2021, the 2500 truck shows off bold styling and aggressive elements. The WT trim comes standard with trailering equipment and side mirrors, steel wheels, black bumpers and trim, and Chevy's Multi-Flex six-way tailgate. Stepping up to the Custom trim adds power-adjustable functionality to the trailering mirrors. Choose the LT trim to get alloy wheels, an EZ-Lift tailgate, power-adjustable and heated side mirrors, and chrome bumpers. The LTZ is further upgraded with auto-dimming and power-folding side mirrors, additional chrome trim, and eye-catching trim enhancements. With the top High Country trim, you get body-color bumpers, chrome assist steps, a power-operated tailgate, a spray-in bedliner, and a power rear window.
Engine (Power)
All five trim levels include a 6.6-liter gas-powered V-8 engine as standard, which makes 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. If that's not enough power, an optional 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V-8 engine is available on all trims. This unit pumps out 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque, pairing with an upgraded Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
Rear-wheel drive comes standard across the board, although all five trim levels are available with Chevy's four-wheel-drive system as an option. This is a worthwhile upgrade if you plan to use your truck for off-roading, as is the Z71 off-road package. The package bundles an upgraded suspension, skid plates, and hill-descent control. When properly equipped, the towing capacity of the 2022 RAM 1500 comes in at 18,500 pounds, while the payload capacity tops out at 3,979 pounds.
Interior
The base WT trim has basic interior features, such as vinyl upholstery, manual accessories, and manual climate control. This model also comes with a two-speaker sound system, a 7-inch touch screen, and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. The Custom trim is a bit more luxurious with cloth upholstery and power accessories, while the mid-level LT trim boasts a Wi-Fi hot spot and an 8-inch touch screen.
With the LTZ, standard features include power-adjustable and heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, and a heated steering wheel. It also tacks on wireless smartphone integration and an HD touch screen. The top High Country trim includes a premium sound system, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, navigation, and a wireless charging pad.
Safety Features
No matter which trim level you choose, your RAM 2500 will include anti-lock brakes, air bags throughout the cabin, traction and stability control, and a rearview camera.
