Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 RAM 3500 is a full-size pickup truck offered in four trim levels: Work Truck (WT), LT, LTZ, and High Country. RAM redesigned the 3500 truck in 2021 and the 2022 model builds off the upgraded body style and design elements. It's customizable with three cab options and multiple bed lengths. On the outside, the base WT trim shows off black trim and bumpers, Chevy's Multi-Flex six-way tailgate, trailering mirrors and connection equipment, and steel wheels. With the LT, you get an EZ-Lift tailgate, chrome bumpers and accents, power-adjustable and heated side mirrors, a trailer brake controller, and a set of alloy wheels. The LTZ adds auto-dimming and power-folding mirrors, LED headlights and fog lights, and keyless entry and ignition. The most luxurious of the bunch is the High Country trim, which features chrome side assist steps, LED cargo bed lighting, and all-terrain tires.
Engine (Power)
Beneath the hood of the 2022 RAM 3500, you'll find a powerful 6.6-liter V-8 gas engine that makes 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. This unit works with a six-speed automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels. The pickup is also available with a 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V-8 engine, which produces 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. If you opt for this engine, it will include an upgraded Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
When properly equipped with the turbo-diesel engine, Chevy's rear-wheel-drive system, and the other necessary equipment, this truck can tow up to 20,000 pounds. With a gooseneck or fifth-wheel trailer, the towing capacity jumps to 35,500 pounds. It can also carry up to 7,442 pounds of payload. If you stick with the standard gas engine, the max towing capacity comes in at 16,800 pounds. Rear-wheel-drive is standard on all trim levels except the High Country.
Interior
The comfortable cabin of the 2022 RAM 3500 features plenty of appealing features and seating for up to five. With the base WT trim, comfort features include manual climate control, vinyl upholstery, and manual accessories. If you opt for the crew cab, power accessories come standard. Tech features include a two-speaker sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, dual USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity. With the LT, enhancements include carpeted floors and mats, cloth upholstery, and a larger 8-inch touch screen.
The LTZ trim is a bit more luxurious, featuring a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, and heated and power front seats. It also adds an HD touch screen, second-row USB ports, wireless smartphone integration, and household-style power outlets for convenience. At the top of the list, the High Country features wireless device charging, heated rear seats, a premium Bose sound system, and ventilated front seats.
Safety Features
All four trim levels include stability and traction control, a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, and air bags throughout the cabin. The High Country trim adds a surround-view camera, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. You can also get forward-collision mitigation, a digital rearview mirror, a head-up display, and lane-departure warning.
