Trim Levels (Exterior)
Car buyers eyeing the 2023 Durango can choose from seven trim levels: SXT, GT, GT Plus, R/T, Citadel, RT Plus, and SRT 392. If you stick with the standard SXT trim level, the vehicle comes with fog lights, LED headlights, roof rails with crossbars, heated exterior side mirrors, and 18-inch wheels.
The GT trim level adds black window trim, a black grille, 20-inch wheels, and a power liftgate. Consider the R/T trim level if you desire 20-inch wheels or the Citadel model for chrome exterior trim. Finally, the SRT 392 trim level is the sporty model and comes with a high-performance adaptive suspension and Brembo brakes.
Engine (Power)
The standard engine offering for the Dodge Durango is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that produces 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Horsepower can improve to 295 for this trim level if you enhance the Durango with a dual exhaust.
However, if you want even more power, you can upgrade the SUV's engine to either the 5.7-liter V-8 option or the 6.4-liter V-8 selection. The 5.7-liter option produces 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque, while the 6.4-liter option produces as much as 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. No matter which engine option you pick, this engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
The standard Durango can tow as much as 6,200 pounds. If you want to improve towing capacity, enhance the SUV with the 5.7-liter engine and the Tow-N-Go package or the 6.4-liter engine option. When doing so, you improve the towing capacity of the Durango to 8,700 pounds.
Interior
A standard 8.4-inch touchscreen comes with the Dodge Durango, but this screen can be switched out for a 10.1-inch option if you opt for a higher trim. In addition to a standard 8.4-inch touchscreen display, the 2023 Durango also comes standard with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, four USB ports, push-button start, keyless entry, and tri-zone automatic climate control.
The 2023 Dodge Durango is a three-row SUV that can accommodate up to seven people. However, if you want to switch out the second-row bench seat for captain's chairs, this changes passenger capacity to six. Those in the front row receive 40.3 inches of legroom, while second-row riders get 38.6 inches of legroom and third-row passengers receive 33.5 inches.
In addition to cozy passenger space, the Durango can also hold a generous amount of cargo. The SUV offers 17.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row of seats. However, you can fold down the third row for 43.3 cubic feet of space or the second and third row for 85.1 cubic feet of space.
Safety Features
A rearview camera sits on the dash of the Durango. This screen makes operating the SUV in reverse as easy as possible. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard safety technologies. These features use sensors and an alert system to help drivers switch lanes safely. Additionally, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Dodge Durango a four-star overall safety rating for 2023.
