The ever-popular Ram is back again for the 2023 model year and brings tons of standard features, powerful engine choices, and ample passenger room. Here are the top features of the 2023 Ram 1500.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
For 2023, Ram offers six trims: the base Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Longhorn, and Limited. Ram also has several special editions: TRX Sandblast, (RED), 10th Anniversary, Laramie G/T, Rebel G/T, Big Horn Backcountry, and Built To Serve Firefighter. Starting at the Tradesman, you get standard features, including 18-inch steel wheels, power-adjustable heated exterior mirrors, black bumpers and door handles, and automatic headlights. The Big Horn sits atop 18-inch aluminum wheels and adds a chrome bumper.
On the Rebel, you get LED exterior lighting, a power-sliding rear window, a Class IV trailer-towing hitch, and underbody skid plates. Moving up to the Laramie adds exterior chrome accents, power-sliding side mirrors, and LED headlights. Selecting the Longhorn trim gives you rain-sensing windshield wipers, a spray-in bed liner, a power tailgate release, 20-inch aluminum wheels, and in-bed lighting. Opting for the premier Limited features plush additions such as power-deployable running boards.
Engine (Power)
Four different engines are offered across the various trims of the 2023 Ram 1500, all of which are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. First up is the base 3.6-liter V-6 engine featuring Ram's eTorque system putting out 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Next, Ram offers the well-known 5.7-liter V-8 HEMI engine making 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, with the eTorque system available optionally.
A 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine is available to produce 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. Last but not least, the 6.2-liter V-8 supercharged engine is offered exclusively on the TRX and has an incredible 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
Maximum towing capacity is one of, if not the most critical factor when choosing a truck. Ram delivers maximum towing capacities between 6,120 and 12,750 pounds, depending on the configuration and engine. For maximum payload capacity, you can get from 1,225 to 2,325 pounds allowing you to carry plenty of gear in your truck bed. Opting for the available air-spring suspension gets you the best-in-class ride experience.
Interior
The base Tradesman offers interior features like remote keyless entry and a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity controlled via a six-speaker stereo system. Moving up to the Big Horn gets you a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Rebel adds built-in interior floor storage bins, individual front bucket seats with a center console, and cloth and vinyl upholstery.
Moving up to the Laramie adds upgrades such as leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, and a remote engine start. In addition, you get a heated steering wheel, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Longhorn adds reclining rear heated seats and exclusive leather seats, while the Limited will give you premium leather bucket seats, a wireless charging pad, and an upgraded 12-inch touchscreen.
Safety Features
Ram includes standard safety and driver-assistance features such as a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure mitigation, a surround-view camera system, and adaptive cruise control. Finally, the advanced airbag system will help protect you in the unfortunate circumstance of a collision.
