Luckily, there are plenty of incredible locally-owned spots to satisfy your sweet tooth. Keep reading to learn about some of our favorite dessert shops in Odessa.
Skoopy’s Island
Take a trip to dessert paradise at Skoopy’s Island. Though it just opened in the last few years, it has quickly become a local favorite. This tropical-themed dessert shop serves up eight flavors of gourmet soft serve, rolled ice cream concoctions, slush puppies, milkshakes, ice cream sandwiches, and coke floats, giving you plenty of options to please everyone in the group. On top of that, you have the option to customize most of these offerings with your choice of toppings and sauces.
You can enjoy your sweet treat under the grass skirts in the café or pick up something to go in the drive-through. Even if you’re in too much of a hurry to stop in on your first visit, it’s definitely worth checking out at some point.
Sno-Cone Delight
Sno-Cone Delight has been serving up sweet goodies to the Permian Basin community since opening over 30 years ago. There is truly no better way to cool down during a Texas summer heatwave than with one of their delicious frozen flavors. There’s even a pickle flavor for the daring and, well, dill-obsessed. With over 60 flavors, a ton of mixtures, and even a few additional options, you’re sure to find something to wet your whistle after a long day in the sun.
This shaved ice spot is walk-up only, but it’s best to enjoy your summer snack in the car since there’s no available seating. This is perfect, though, because you’re going to need to sit down after you take a bite anyway.
Cake Mix
Cake lovers, don’t despair. You can order custom cakes and cupcakes from Cake Mix for your next event or special occasion, but there is also a storefront where you can purchase some tasty treats to get your taste buds tingling. The shop serves up primarily cupcakes, and at an incredible price. There are a ton of flavors to choose from that are freshly baked every single day.
Desert Snow
Another little slice of snow cone heaven can be found at Odessa’s Desert Snow. Not only are the snow cones delicious, but they are gigantic. Seriously, you may need to share if you want to avoid a bad case of brain freeze. But it hurts so good. When you visit, keep in mind that the Salty Lizard is definitely one of the must-try flavors. This spot operates as a walk-up window, but there are a few picnic benches if you’d like to hang around while you enjoy your treat.
