Dodge is an iconic American automotive brand that has delivered a number of appealing vehicles over the years. Some of these cars have been featured on the big screen in chases, showcasing their power and capabilities. Take a look at some of the most iconic vehicle chases that featured Dodge models in the history of the cinema.1969 Dodge Charger

“Bullitt”

Bullitt” is a movie that came out in 1968, starring Steve McQueen and Bill Hickman. McQueen plays the title character and the car chase occurs when Hickman is chasing Bullitt in a black 1968 Dodge Charger 440.

What makes this scene particularly unique is the fact that you hear no background music or dialogue throughout the 10-minute chase. Instead, you get to listen to the growling engine of the Charger as it winds throughout the highways, narrow alleys, and hills of San Francisco. McQueen is driving a Mustang in the film, which was actually so much slower than the Charger that the Dodge model had to be fitted with thinner wheels to slow it down.

“Vanishing Point”

In “Vanishing Point,” a film that came out in 1971, the main attraction is a 1970 Dodge challenger. In the opening scene, two tractors create a roadblock on a highway in a desolate part of California. Police officers in a helicopter and police cars are in hot pursuit of the white Challenger, which is driven by Barry Newman, who plays Kowalski in the movie. He floors it and goes straight toward the blockade, only to turn around and speed away.

Over the next 90 minutes of the film, viewers get to see what the Challenger is capable of, which is quite impressive. The car was so beloved by producers that they actually wrecked a different make and model in the crash scene so they could preserve the Challenger.

“The Fast and the Furious”

In “The Fast and the Furious” franchise, viewers get to see all types of appealing vehicles. One of these is the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, which is introduced in the first film that came out in 2001. Vin Diesel, the star of the films, drives the black Charger which features the same body style as General Lee from “Dukes of Hazzard.” The vehicle is seen throughout many chase sequences in the movie, dominating in all of its races and chases until it crashes in the final scene.

“Terminator”

“Terminator” is another popular film that has spurred many sequels and spin-offs over the years. When the first movie came out in 1984, it featured a 1977 Dodge Monaco, which was the police cruiser driven by the Terminator in the chase scene. While driving the vehicle without his hands, the Terminator fires a shotgun at Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese just before he crashes headfirst into a wall. Since he’s a powerful robot, he emerges from the wreckage to continue his pursuit of the other characters.
