The 2020 Ram 1500 is a full-size pickup truck that’s hitting dealer lots with a ton of fanfare thanks to loads of tech, torque, and towing capability. Part of the fifth-generation lineup that was introduced just this year, the upcoming 2020 variant is the talk of the town. From its potent engine options to a more refined cabin, you’re going to want to check out the awesome power of the half-ton 2020 Ram 1500.Ram 1500's on the beach in Mexico.

Powerful Engines

The most notable change for the 2020 Ram 1500 is a redesigned, turbocharged V-6 diesel engine. This stronger, 3.0-liter powerhouse returns to the 1500’s lineup and is even available on the off-roading Rebel version.

It delivers more power and more torque than ever before. Paired with Ram’s proven eight-speed automatic transmission, it produces 260 horsepower and a class-leading 480 pound-feet of torque. These ratings represent significant gains over the outgoing engine, which generates 240 horsepower and 420 foot-pounds of torque.

Ram didn’t stop with an increase in torque either. This new EcoDiesel offers 14 percent or 60 pound-feet of additional torque that occurs lower in the rev range — at just 1,600 rpm. This range is where it’s most effective and useful for towing and hauling. You’ll also get 20 more horsepower over Ram’s last-generation EcoDiesel, and it’s available on every 1500 trim level. Plus, it’s expected to lead the segment on fuel economy.

Ram offers the upcoming 1500 with two other engine options. The rejuvenated base 3.6-liter V-6 with an eTorque mild-hybrid system makes 305 horses and 269 foot-pounds of torque, and there’s the optional new 5.7-liter V-8. Combined with a 48-volt motor, this pair generates 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Both options are paired with a new 8-speed automatic transmission.

Improved Fuel Economy

The new diesel engine is expected to offer the best fuel economy rating in the lineup or an estimated 22 mpg combined. The V-6 delivers impressive fuel economy on its own accord, achieving 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg highway. With the V-8, expect to earn 15 mpg city and 22 highway.

If efficiency is tops on your priority list, you’ll also appreciate the 1500’s auto-leveling air suspension. This truck can lower itself at highway speeds for improved fuel economy.

Performance and Capability

Significant gains in engine output all add up to big returns. The EcoDiesel’s maximum tow rating tops out at 12,560 pounds, making it the highest diesel tow rating in the class. All three engine choices offer abundant torque that ensures effortless performance capabilities.

Tech in Spades

Each 2020 Ram 1500 pickup features the same high-end comfort and convenience features, including the Uconnect infotainment system. This package of top tech is housed in the truck’s standard 8.4-inch touchscreen display or the huge, available 12-inch, portrait-oriented screen with the upgraded Uconnect 4C NAV package of connectivity features.

Available in a selection of five trim choices, the 2020 Ram 1500 is an excellent choice for your new crew cab pickup. Test drive one at your local showroom today.
