2022 RAM 3500

The Ram 3500 heavy-duty pickup truck already stood above other pickups when it came to towing and hauling power, and for 2022, it’s even stronger. In addition to its capabilities, the 3500 also provides a smooth ride and offers upscale and luxury features in the cabin. Take a look at the massive towing capabilities with the 2022 Ram 3500 and some of the other features and equipment you can get with it too.

The Engines

There are three different engines for the Ram 3500. The first is a 6.4-liter V-8 that puts out 410 horsepower, gets 429 pound-feet of torque, and uses Ram’s eight-speed automatic transmission. If you need more power, a 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engine is optional for all models except the Power Wagon. This powertrain puts out 370 horsepower and generates 850 pound-feet of torque, and if you opt for the high output version, it gets 400 horsepower and generates 1,075 pound-feet of torque. Both of the diesel engines use a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Towing Capacity

When equipped with the high output diesel engine, the Ram 3500 can tow up to 37,100 pounds, and it can also carry up to 7,680 pounds. If you don’t need this much towing power, the regular cab rear-wheel-drive Tradesman with the high-output engine can tow up to 35,100 pounds, and even the minimum capacity 3500 can handle up to 15,990 pounds. You get this with the mega cab, four-wheel drive, and the gas V-8 engine.

Smart Towing Technology

When you have a huge load behind your Ram 3500, it’s important that you can tow safely. The smart towing features available with this truck make it easy and convenient. The available cargo view and backup camera provide the driver with a view behind the truck to help assist with lining up the hitch and trailer. Ram also offers a 360-degree surround-view camera and Trailer Camera Prep, which allows you to attach up to two auxiliary cameras to the trailer for a better view of the surrounding area.

The trailer tow mirrors have spotter lamps mounted on the arms that you can fold out for a wider view when towing.

Towing Safety Features

Maneuvering, driving, and parking are easier and safer with available features such as reverse guidance with a split-screen view. There’s also a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-path detection and a trailer detection with cameras that scan the blind zones behind and beside the truck and trailer to make it safer to maneuver. A forward-collision warning system that alerts you when the car or truck in front of you slows down is another available safety system to make driving and towing safer.

Ram also offers a reverse steering control system that allows the driver to use a steering knob instead of the steering wheel for more precise control when backing up.

The Ram 3500 has the power and technology you need to tow massive loads. The 2022 Ram 3500 has more horsepower and torque than ever, and it offers equipment and options to make towing safer and more convenient.
