A Closer Look at the 2022 RAM 2500
Configurations
There are three cab versions available: regular cab, crew cab, and mega cab. The regular cab seats two or three passengers while the crew cab and mega cab seat five or six passengers. You can also choose either the regular 6-foot-4-inch bed or the longer 8-foot bed.
Powertrain
You can choose between a gas V-8 or a turbocharged diesel inline-six engine. The 6.4-liter gas engine produces 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 6.7-liter diesel engine produces 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and optional six-speed automatic transmission. All models come standard with rear-wheel drive and available four-wheel drive.
Safety
All models of the RAM 2500 come with the optional Safety Group safety suite, which provides driver-assist technologies such as:
- Rear cross-traffic alert
- Blind-spot monitoring
- Adaptive cruise control
- Automatic emergency braking
- Automatic high-beams
Technology
The base Tradesman model of the 2500 has a 5.0-inch infotainment display system with Bluetooth connectivity and a six-speaker stereo system. Higher trims come standard with an upgraded 10-speaker system. The Big Horn trim level and higher come standard with a large 12.0-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment display with features like tow-specific navigation, Wi-Fit connectivity, and the ability to update.
These also come with available upgrades like a 17-speaker premium audio system, a 360-degree towing camera view, a 360-degree camera system, and a 220-amp alternator.
What’s New
Towing Functionality
There is now a digital rearview mirror when the RAM is in tow mode. The Trailer Tow Group has a trailer hitch light system, and a Trailer 360 view with four cameras is now available as an upgrade.
New Edition Packages
For 2022, the RAM 2500 has two new high-level edition packages: The Heavy Duty Big Horn and the Lone Star Silver Edition. Both models also have a new unique grille.
Power Wagon Updates
The Power Wagon model now has several updates available, including Bristol leather seats, an electronic transfer case, and the new Level 3 Equipment Package.
