Family Friendly Activities near Odessa, TX

Are you looking for exciting kid-friendly activities to enjoy with your family in Odessa, TX? Here are four great places to take the kids and fun and exciting things to do with your family in and around the city.

1. Learn More About the Odessa Crater

The Odessa Crater is approximately 500 feet wide and was originally 100 feet deep, and it is the second-largest crater in the United States after the Arizona Crater. Visit the Odessa Meteor Crater and Museum to learn more about the crater and the many smaller ones formed 62,000 years ago when thousands of nickel-iron meteorites of different sizes collided with the earth.

According to astrophysicists, the meteorites came from the asteroidal belt between Mars and Jupiter. They fell over two square miles, some resting on the surface and others forming shallow impact pits. Others hit the ground with an enormous force, deeply penetrated the bedrock, and created craters. The largest Odessa Meteorite weighs approximately 300 pounds.

2. Enjoy a Fun Day Fishing

Take the kids fishing at Fish’ n ‘Fun. It’s the ideal place to teach the kids to fish and practice their newly acquired fishing skills. The large play lake, filled with beautiful water plants, has a rail to keep the little ones safe at the fishing area and is well stocked with catfish that range from 1.5 to 8 pounds.

Scenic gardens and green lawns surround the lake and the other picturesque water features. You can purchase an assortment of bait and rent fishing gear on the premises and enjoy a bite to eat at one of the picnic tables. There is also a playground and restroom facilities.

3. Have a Blast at an Indoor Play Center

If you want to see your kids having the time of their lives, take them to 4 Kidz Fun Park. It’s the most fun your kids can have under one roof. There are loads of colorful playgrounds and climbing areas. The soft play playground and toddler area are filled with spongy obstacles, small climbs, and colorful balls where the smaller kiddies can play safely.

The Warrior Course is more challenging with ropes and climbing ladders. Watch your kids glide and tumble down the four-lane wave slide and the Donut Slide, dodge balls in the Ball Blaster Area, and navigate the Rope Course.

4. Cool Down in at a Public Pool

Beat the summer heat at one of the three public pools in the city. The Sherwood Park and Woodson Park Aquatic Centers are geared for family fun with lifeguards, concession stands, and family changing rooms. The Sherwood Park Aquatic Center also hosts themed pool parties, games, giveaways, and the popular Dive-In Movie nights in the summer months.

The large Floyd Gwin Pool has West Texas’s only water climbing wall. The pool has a diving board, concession stand, and lifeguards are on duty at all times.

Pile your kids in the car and treat them to a day of family fun and excitement that they will never forget. Visit All American Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Odessa today, and our qualified and experienced technicians will ensure that your vehicle is in tip-top condition for a family outing.
